Willy Hernangómez made his debut with Real Madrid in ACB and Euroleague after four seasons in the youth development teams of the club. He was also a member of the Spanish National Team.
In 2013, Hernangómez was loaned to Spanish club, CB Sevilla, and played alongside Kristaps Porzingis. In his second year with the club, he led his team to a historical victory with 29 points and 13 rebounds against FC Barcelona, becoming the youngest player to reach that feat in the Spanish basketball league.
After having played with the U-18, U-19, and U-20 teams of the Spanish National team, Willy played for the first time with the senior team in the Eurobasket Tournament in Berlin (Germany) and Lille (France), where his team won the gold medal.
After finishing a successful season at Real Madrid where he won the League, the Spanish Cup, the Supercup, and the Intercontinental Cup, Willy entered his name into the NBA draft and was selected by the Philadelphia 76’ers with the 35th overall pick, which was eventually traded to the New York Knicks.
After being part of the NBA All-Rookie First Team 2017, he was transferred to the Charlotte Hornets in February 2018 where he is actually developing his career.
